Library Necessary To All Students
By Terry Zach
One of the necessities of a good school is a good library. Students must have available, adequate, and timely information to supplement their class participation. Our Harry D. Anderson memorial library serves this purpose.
Heading the library staff is Mr. Willis Lindeman, who is assisted by Miss Florence Kuhn and Miss Carol Silvius. The library secretary, Mrs. Irene Borgeson, and the clerk, Mrs. Elsie Longman, also help the library function in an orderly manner.
Microfilm Used
In keeping with modern times, six different magazines have been placed on microfilm. These periodicals are on file back to 1956. Regular magazines are n file back to 1959. There are 90 magazines such as these. Three daily newspapers are received on subscription. About 216 phonograph records on the subjects of literature and business education are available. Even a new "listening corner" has been set up in which a student may listen to records in the library without disturbing other students. Numerous film strips on many subjects and a pamphlet file also supplement the usefulness of the library.
The librarians are assisted in their work by some 35 or 40 student aides. The aides should have above average grades. Applications are now being taken for these positions.
