Thinclads Victors In 3‑Way Meet

After opening the season successfully, against East Leyden and Niles West, the Warriors host Forestview tonight at 4 pm. The Eagles are entering their first year of competition so the West runners are looking forward to another victory.

Twenty‑nine points were good enough for a Warrior first in the triangular meet last Saturday at Bunker Hill Forest Preserves while East Leyden and Niles West had 46 and 53, points, respectively.

The course consists of one quarter mile downhill, one half mile on a lakeside path in the forest preserves, and one and a quarter miles of rolling terrain.

The point system of cross-country is to get a score as low as possible. The first place runner is awarded one point and the second place runner two points, etc. The teams points are the total of the points awarded to their first five runners to cross the finish line.

Maine West's first five finishers in their first meet are given with their placing and time. They are Ron Erdmann 2nd, 11:33; John Schneider 3rd, 11:35; Bob Wagner 6th, 11:44; Wayne Bushkin 8th, 11:48; and Scott Taylor 10th, 11:59.

Last Tuesday, against Barrington, the West runners added their second victory of the season.
