Lieda Overcomes Handicap

"Nursing," said Lieda Robaus '65, with a secret smile on her face, "has always been my ambition. I want very much to help people, and to make their lives a little more worthwhile."

As a member of the Future Nurses club, Lieda said this with a sincerity which was accented more by the fact that her left hand has been paralyzed by polio. Overcoming this handicap, she has achieved an average speed of 48 words a minute with her right hand only in her first year of typing.

"I feel Lieda has ambition," asserted Mr. Raymond Ross, typing instructor. "She is a diligent worker, is very mature, has her goal in mind, and will be successful in any career she may choose."

Collecting stuffed animals and recipes, and playing badminton and tennis are a few of Lieda's favorite pastimes.
