MARCH 22, 1963

THE FROSH‑SOPH TRACK team tied for second in the Interim Conference track meet at Morton West, March 16. The three distance men, Lloyd Schiegel, Rich Bokor, and Russ Suszko captured the eyes of coach Jobst as they all broke frosh‑soph indoor school records in their events. Schlegel raced over the half mile in 2:05.7, Bokor ran a 54.2 quarter mile, and Suszko paced himself to a 4:51.7 mile.

Wayne Wysogald placed third in the high hurdles and fourth in the low hurdles. Al Eyre and Tom Smith placed third and fifth, respectively, in the shot put. The mile relay team of Bokor, Ed Schultz, Frank Tantone, and Schlegel placed second.

MR. MARV NYREN, head freshman baseball coach, reported that 65 boys turned out for the first practice. He mentioned that 28 boys will make up the squad until they begin practicing outdoors. At this time all the boys who were eliminated may return.

"WE'VE GOT ABOUT 40-50 BOYS out and with a lot of hardwork, we'll be up and among the leaders this year," predicted Mr. Dave Kennedy, coach of the sophomore diamondmen.

The Westmen will play total of 15 games of which 10 are at home.

Assisted by Coach McKnight, Mr. Kennedy also added, "The sophomores are defensively pretty well off and can run with any team in the league." However, he also cited, "The pitchers will have to work hard in order to be ready for their April 6 opener against Oak Park."

THE INTRAMURAL WEIGHT LIFTING tournament for Seniors ended March 18 with five places being awarded. Each boy was allowed a total of three lifts.
