Juniors, Seniors Plan Big Doings for
Proms, May 11-31.

Seniors will be able to say "sayonara" to the realities of life upon entering the exotic world of the Orient at the Senior Prom Friday, May 31, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The oriental theme will be provided by a transformation of the cafeteria, social room, and patio into a lush setting of gardens with goldfish ponds, tea gardens illuminated by lanterns, and bamboo gates draped with fish nets. Commented Karen Strom '63, the Prom chairman, "The decorations will be the most unusual ever to be seen at any Prom."

Assisting Karen in preparations for the affair are John Aegerter, decorations chairman; Chuck Hawes, band chairman; Sue MacHattie, refreshments; Valerie Olson, bids; Jan Wandrey, invitations; and Donna Wiese, publicity.

All members of the Senior class are invited to attend their Prom, the social highlight of their four years at Maine West. There is no cost for the dance. Every senior is to receive a personal invitation after spring vacation; both senior boys and girls may attend the affair with dates from other classes or schools.

Proper dress for the Prom will be formals for the girls and tuxedos for the boys. Corsages will be in order.

Junior Prom

The Junior Prom, to be May 11 in the cafeteria, will feature continuous music provided by the Lane Emery band and the Bill Heller band. The two bands were secured through a booking agency in Evanston.

At present no theme has been chosen; plans are to be finalized over spring vacation. Working on the Prom are Phil Hway and Barry Eisfeldt, head co‑chairmen; Karen Rivard, publicity; Donna Wolf, invitations and tickets; and Dick Nedwed, decorations.

"The ever‑present enthusiasm and cooperation of our class give every indiction that our Prom will prove to be a memorable success," commented Phil, Junior class president.
