Dear Editor:
Within several weeks class elections will take place. These elections are done a great injustice; candidates are not allowed to make speeches or hold campaigns. Each year several students run for office who think class council is a joke; they run only for the sake of popularity. In most cases these candidates do not succeed, but in recent years they have come close to being elected.
I sincerely believe that if we, the students of each class, could hear and see the candidates before we vote, our class councils would profit greatly. As it stands now, if something is not done, we shall have worse class representation in the future.

Dear Editor:
Would it be possible to have popular music played in the cafeteria during lunch periods? This would be a nice change that would be enjoyed by all.

Dear Editor:
I agree with "Full of Spirit" who wrote you in the last Westerner issue about Mainites showing more school spirit.
My complaint, however, is that the student body does not back all the teams. After all, the boys in other sports are also trying to make a name for Maine West. I feel we all should make a sincere effort to let the other sportsmen know we are proud of them.

Dear Editor,
I think I have a solution to the bus problem. The bus pass could have numbers from 1 to 10. Every time a student rode the bus, the pass would be punched by the driver, according to the number of rides that would have been taken. A week's rides would number 10. To prevent the students from keeping the passes too long, a time limit for using them could be established.
Our present system charges $1.25 for 10 rides, regardless of illness. By the proposed system the passes could be used within an established time limit.
If this system were put into effect, I am sure the students who ride the bus would be thoroughly satisfied.
