Constitution Knowledge Pays Off

Semi‑finalists in the American Legion Constitution contest, given under the sponsorship of the social science department on March 26, were Bob Browne '64, Ken Crepas '64, Mary Ann Gembicki '64, Richard Geertz '63, Carl Jefferson '63, Jackie Piraino '64, and Janet Virostko '64. These seven highest scorers competed for a $100 scholarship by taking an oral exam yesterday.

Exams Take Only Ten Minutes

The oral exams were about 10 minutes long and covered the students' interpretation and understanding of the Constitution. The Legion members who acted as judges neither knew nor considered the grades or ranks received on the written examination. In case of a tie, the first examination was considered.

The $100 award to the winner will be payable upon the winner's matriculation in the college of his or her choice.
