Coach Jobst Has 13 Years
Of Experience

With 13 years of coaching experience behind him, coach Joe Jobst is striving hard to improve the track team's chances of taking a top place in the outdoor conference meet. "We've been hampered by the injuries of three or four key men, thus, losing a well‑balanced team, but we will be the team to beat in the new MidSuburban league next year," predicted coach Jobst.

Besides being the head varsity track coach, he is also the head freshman football coach. Mr. Jobst, also an earth science teacher, can be seen checking the weather station at the north side of the building during the day. On the track squad Mr. Jobst is assisted by coaches Charles Lawyer, Donald Magsamen, Raymond Ross, and Ed Smith. During the indoor season the cindermen finished with a fine record of 6‑2 and a fifth place in the Interim League indoor meet.

The head track mentor received his B.A. degree in earth science at Knox college and later went on to receive his master's degree at Northern Illinois university.

Mr. Jobst stated that coaching Lee Wolf to third place in the 880‑yard run in the state meet last year was his most exciting experience at Maine West.
