THE MOST VALUABLE PLAYER and honorary captain awards were presented during the annual mid‑winter sports night sponsored by the Maine West Dads club and held at the school on Tuesday, March 26. Those boys receiving awards were Chuck Esposito, captain JV basketball; Rick DeKreek, captain varsity basketball; Al Waters, most valuable and all‑state basketball; Bill Rosenburgh, most valuable JV wrestling; Dick Jensen, most valuable varsity wrestling; Bill Schacht, most valuable varsity swimming; Gerry Peterson, most valuable varsity gymnastics; and Stoney Jackson, most valuable sophomore basketball.

RICK FULLE, MOST valuable frosh‑soph swimming; Ken Mueller most valuable and captain freshman basketball; Jim Kautz, most valuable freshman wrestling; Ken Bixby, most valuable sophomore wrestling; Jim Alfini, most valuable frosh‑soph gymnastics; and Erv Geisler, captain varsity wrestling.

THE INTRAMURAL WEIGHT LIFTING tournament for juniors, sophomores, and freshmen ended with places being awarded to the top boys in each class. Each boy was allowed a total of three lifts. The top places in each class are as follows:
