Moehling Family Chosen as Host
for Exchange Student

Mr. Donald Moehling, alderman of the third ward, and his family of 787 Forest Ave. were announced as the host family for the foreign exchange student last Tuesday.

They made their application last spring, were screened by the New York chapter of AFS (American Field Service), and now have been chosen for reasons unknown to themselves.

"I want to give her a representative view of America," remarked Mr. Moehling. "I want to show her Chicago's culture and its slums. Most of all I want to give her a sense of our history and a cross‑section of American life." He also commented that he was "very honored to have her come."

The Moehlings have two children attending Maine West, Elsa '64 and Paul '66. Both are eager for the student's arrival in early June.

Responsibility for the exchange student is shared equally between the host family and the local AFS chapter. The student will not be allowed to drive nor will she be allowed to make public speeches for the first nine months.

Jean Mead, Student Council representative to the local AFS chapter, commented, "I am anticipating the arrival of our foreign exchange student very much. I know that Maine West, as well as the community, will profit greatly from this project."
