Transformation for Prom
Prom! The magical state of enchantment and enjoyment. The tradition as cherished as the Homecoming game and the wearing of class rings.
Fairy godmothers have turned their bobby-soxed heiresses into glittering young ladies escorted by debonair boys, minus oversized tennis shoes and grease stained sweatshirts. How magically these former zealous twisters are transformed into dancers of adult stature.
The prom itself has been planned, prepared, and toiled over for many a week preceding the event. A numerous group of students and adults have "burned the midnight oil" in an effort to present their class with an evening of enchantment. Each year a class outdoes itself and creates a more magnificent prom than its predecessors.
Students tend to become unusually class conscious at Prom time; observe the junior conspicuously wearing his class pin or the status-conscious senior. Certainly all students take pride in their class Prom and many experience a true feeling of belonging to their class for the first time.
A dance is, after all, a dance; but the prom is a tradition. The memories of carnation corsages, white tuxedos, and rhythmic dance music may last for only a few weeks. But the memories of friends, warmth and gaiety must last for a lifetime. This occasion is to be enjoyed now, and never again relived, except in cherished memories.
