Fashion Show To Be Held
On May 24

"The cooperation of the art and music departments will provide a pleasant background for the models at the home economics fashion show on May 24," pointed out Miss W ill a Mitchell, coordinator of the annual show.

Bringing additional features to the show this year will be Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the art department; Miss Judy Hardy, home economics teacher; Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, orchestra conductor; and Mr. Wilbur Schafer, choral director.

The fashion show, Fashion Americana, will take place May 24 at 8 p.m. in the school auditorium. The title refers to the American fashion industry that is taking more and more leadership in womens' styles. The chairs in the auditorium will be set up in a semi‑circle. There is no admission fee and everyone is welcome according to Mrs. Lucille Stiles, chairman of the home economics department.

"Rip that out," is one of Miss Mitchell's most common remarks when she is grading garments to be modeled in Fashion Americana.

The Clothing I, II, and III students will do the modeling. The Clothing III class is commonly referred to as the costume design and flat pattern class. Many Maine West originals can be seen. Small children always add variety and interest to the fashion show when modeling the outfits a friend or relative has made for them. Formal, sport, casual, and beach wear will be viewed by the audience. Much of the millinery worn was made by Clothing II students. Many of the garments to be modeled were made by Clothing I students in a semester.

"The garments modeled will give those who attend good ideas for spring and summer sewing. The fashions are all appropriate to make for a college," concluded Miss Mitchell.
