Maine West's varsity golf squad, after a busy opening schedule, will begin district competition today at the Golden Acres Country club. The stickmen will enter the Arlington Heights District tournament with an up‑and‑down performance so far this year.
On May 6, the Warriors lost an away meet, 320‑328, to Glenbard East. The eighteen hole totals on the Arrowhead golf course saw Ken Miller take low man by shooting a 77. Next in line were Tom Wasmund with an 83, followed by Hank Blenner and Bob Permoller with 84's.

In two other away meets, the Westmen defeated Downers Grove by eight swings, 333‑341, and tied defending champions, Glenbrook North, 268‑268.
The Warriors downed Niles West at the Park Ridge Country club, Maine's home course, with a total of 171, as opposed to Niles' 178 for the nine holes. Blenner and Miller tied for low with 41's, while Greene had 42.
In previous meets West defeated Glenbrook South 160‑173 and Morton West 355‑359. However, the Warriors were also set back by West Leyden 162‑166 and Deerfield 194‑207.
