Amid the admiration and applause of fellow student‑journalists, Karen Rivard '64, was named editor‑in‑chief of the Legend and John Gauger '64, editor‑in‑chief of The Westerner, at the Quill and Scroll banquet, Friday, May 10.
SuJane Schreyer '63, and Rick Geertz '63, present Quill and Scroll officers, presented the 13 new members of the society. These initiates were given pins and membership cards by Principal Herman L. Rider.
Other staff positions for The Westerner which were announced include Marty Muncy and Barb Sigalove, co-managing editors; Joyce Ermeling, chief copyreader; Maureen Carlson, page 1 editor; sophomore Mary McCormick, page 2 editor; Tula Arvanitis, page 3 editor; Bill Fernow and Ed Reidel, co-sports editors; Christine Naegele, picture editor; and Jean Mead, exchange editor and librarian.

Assisting Joyce in preparing copy will be copyreaders, Maureen Dempsey, Sharon Geach, Jean Johnson, and Lorna Seitz. Paul Maruska and Jim Rybarczyk will be sports page assistants. Named as photographers are Tom Herzog and Jim Thoma. Jim Carley and Dick Pate will be news reporters. Chosen as typists are Monica Miko and Diane Olson.
The Legend business manager will be Jane Pressl. Ken Miller will be senior editor, assisted by Wendy Geertz. The newly selected class editor, Valerie Enggas, will be aided by assistant, Linda Waters. Nancy Carlson and Sue Olson will be assistants to organizations and activities editor Kathy Flentge. Sports editor will be Jim Bullerman, assisted by Jim Wandrey. Lynne Struebing will aid the faculty editor, Bob Reinhart, and administration and staff editor, Jim Kahn.
