Homecoming Queens Reign At
Festivities October 19, 20

Making the floats and picking the nominees for Homecoming queen are the first two steps in beginning the Homecoming week which will officially open next Friday and end with the dance Saturday. Nominations for queen were made on October 3 and 4 in all junior and senior homerooms.

In the running for queen are Jacque Berndt, Barb Bethurem Karen Broberg, Barb Cutaia, Sue Erwin, Barb Georgans, Lorraine Huening, Carol Kristen, Joyce Lesniak, Pat Mackland, ToriI Matre, Jean Mitran, and Ruth Ann Richardson.

Queen to Reign

From the above girls, five, including the queen, will be elected to the court for the 1962 Homecoming. They will reign over all festivities. The list will be narrowed to 10 on October 12 and then in an assembly Wednesday, October 17, the students will vote for the finalists. The queen and her court will be announced at the game on October 19.

Floats will be built by the four classes and a combined Boys' and Girls' clubs committee will enter a fifth float. Building of the floats will begin on Saturday, October 13, from 10 am to 4 pm, and continue throughout the next week at the following times: Monday, 9 am to 4 pm; Wednesday, 4 pm to 7 pm; and Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Game Scheduled

The Homecoming events will be on Friday and Saturday, October 19 and 20. The football game will feature the Warriors against East Leyden with the iv game at 6 pm Friday. The floats will be paraded around the football field between games and prizes will be announced. The queen and her court will be introduced as they ride onto the field in convertibles.

Band Prepares Routines

Mr. Robert Kuite, band director, has the band working on some intricate routines that will thrill the crowd at halftime. Performing with the band will be the newly organized majorette group and the Pom Porn squad.

Ending the '62 Homecoming will be the traditional dance at Maine West on Saturday, October 20, in the cafeteria.
