Patty Mackland, a 5 foot, 1 inch green‑eyed blond, is the new secretary of the Senior class.
The secretary's outside interests include sewing, memorizing grammar rules, and writing themes for Mr. Dean Buckingham, Senior English teacher.
Speaking as a senior, Patty said, "The most important thing I have learned is that the only way to get ahead is to work and plan ahead. You can't achieve success by depending on someone else to do your work."
Future plans for Patty include attending a nursing school in the Chicago area and training to be a registered nurse. Working at the Des Plaines Convalescent home has given her valuable experience in her future occupation. Patty reported that she has had various experiences at work which have taught her many things. Getting along with older people is one of the lessons she has learned at the Home. She has learned many other things which will be of great value to her in later life.
