West's varsity football team will head for their second conference victory of the season when they take on the undefeated Glenbrook Spartans tonight. The Spartans, ranked fifth in the North Suburban area, will be celebrating their Homecoming.
The Warrior gridmen had their winning streak come to a halt last Friday night, after eight successive victories. After defeating Peoria, Deerfield, and Quincy, the Warriors were stopped by the tough Prospect squad.
Warriors Lose To Knights
In last Friday's game with Prospect, West's gridmen were beaten by a score of 20‑7. The Knights were able to score in the first, third, and fourth quarters, while the Warriors were held scoreless until the fourth quarter.
Prospect's quarterback, Groh, scored twice, once in the first quarter on a three‑yard run, and again in the third quarter on a one‑yard plunge. Koepke kicked the extra point after the first touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors fought their way down field to Prospect's one‑yard line, where Al Klehr bulled over the goal for West's only touchdown. John Gabbert kicked the extra point making the score 13‑7.
With only a few minutes left in the game, and the Warriors trying desperately to tie or take the lead, Hogarty of Prospect intercepted a Warrior pass and ran it back 20‑yards for the final score of the game. Koepke kicked the extra point making the 13 margin victory.

Warriors Crush Quincy
At Quincy, backed by a handful of West boosters, the Warriors crushed through the Blue Devil's defense.
Al Klehr led the Warriors with three touchdowns. Klehr scored on runs of 2, 3, and 12 yards. Ken Pinzke and Al Slowik also scored touchdowns for the Warriors. Pinzke scored his on a 35‑yard screen pass which gave the Warriors their fourth touchdown. Slowik scored the final West touchdown when he plunged over from the one‑yard line. John Gabbert converted giving him four out of five for the night. In the fourth quarter neither team was able to score and the game ended with the Warriors chalking up a 34‑6 victory.
Warriors Squeeze Past Deerfield
In the game with Deerfield, the Warriors got off to a very slow start and were down 19‑0 at half time. In the second half, however, the gridmen showed their fighting spirit as they fought back and scored three times while holding Deerfield scoreless.
Senior Al Klehr scored two of West's touchdowns with plunges from one yard out. The other Warrior touchdown came on a 16‑yard pass from Klehr to Al Waters. John Gabbert converted after all three of the touchdowns giving the gridmen a 21‑19 victory.
