Tie Prospect in Last Meet

Deerfield is host to the varsity Harriers tonight at 4:30 p.m. for Coach Barringer's first away meet of the '62 season. Last year the thinclads trounced Deerfield with a perfect meet of 15‑50.

In last Friday's meet, cross countrymen ended up in a tie with the Prospect Knights 28‑28. John Greco, a sophomore, ran in this meet for his first time in varsity competition. John gave an excellent performance by pacing all of the Warriors and placing third in the meet.

The first five Warriors to finish were John Greco, 10:57; John Schneider, 11:00; Bob Wagner, 11:05; Scott Taylor, 11:06; and Ron Erdmann, 11:08.

In a recent meet with Glenbrook, the Spartans edged out the cross country team for the first loss of the year with a score of 26‑31.

Sinclair, from Glenbrook, ran a good time of 10:57 to take first place in the dual meet. The following five Warriors were Scott Taylor, 11:04; Wayne Bushkin, 11:19; Jim Witkay, 11:22; John Schneider, 11:26; and Ron Erdmann, 11:27.

In the Warriors second meet of the season they were victors over the Forest View squad by a score of 20‑41. Ron Erdmann took first place with a time of 11:00. Bob Wagner, Scott Taylor, Jim Witkay, and Rog Halvorsen ran third, fourth, fifth, and seventh, respectively. Forest View's first five are Sladek, second; Potter, sixth; Valentino, eleventh; Andrews, seventeenth; and Hogle, nineteenth.

Coach William Barringer, head cross country coach, is now in his third year as head coach of Maine West cross country teams. Mr. Barringer's assistant on both varsity and Frosh‑soph levels is Mr. Ross Blake.

In his past three years as head coach, Mr. Barringer has coached West cross country teams to 14 wins, 7 losses, and 2 ties.
