'Senior Class Play To Be The Greatest'

What is it like to live in a mental institution? "The Curious Savage" by John Patrick will be acted out November 9 and 10 in the auditorium. This play will help to clear up many of the ideas people have about institutions. The whole point of the play is to contrast the people in the institute with Mrs. Savage's children and the insane outside world. It is John Patrick's most successful play.

Every day after school the cast practices until six o'clock. The student directors prompt the few who forget lines and fill in for people who are not there. The art department and stagecrafters are making the scenery that will be used. Many people in the Drama class are looking forward to putting the make-up on the cast. About 25 people are working very hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for the play.

Among those are Frank Vaia, production manager, Carol Barret, Karen Strom, and Paula Humphreys, student directors, and Jim Curren, lighting.

"Judging from the enthusiasm shown by the cast and the energetic rehearsals, this class play is going to be the greatest Maine West will ever have," exclaimed Carol Barret '63, one of the student directors.

Heading the various committees for the play are Pat Niemz, ticket chairman; Donna Weiss, programs; and Carol Jacobsen, usherettes.

The Senior class will be selling the tickets which range in price from $1 for students and $1.50 for adults. Everyone is looking forward to a very good play.
