West's Stage Vaia's Home
On stage! The curtain is going up on another year of outstanding though hectic activities for Frank Vaia.
To Frank, a past president of Stagecrafters' club, the Maine West stage has become his second home. He has taken part in every type of major production staged in the auditorium. A three-year Variety show veteran, Frank has appeared as a stagehand, dance-chorus member, and last year's stage manager. He was in election assembly skits for Pat Ritter and Tom Prochaska last spring. For his interest and accomplishment in theatrical activities, Frank was awarded membership in the Thespian society and chosen "Thespian of the Year." Currently, he is the production manager of the Senior class play, for which he predicts unlimited success.
An enthusiastic supporter of Student Council, Frank is also one of its finest representatives. He has devoted four active, service-filled years to maintaining and amending student government for Maine West. As chairman of the Organizations committee, Frank is responsible for the success of Freshman class elections and Various projects concerning Homecoming.
A member of Brotherhood society, Frank represented Maine West as a delegate to Boys' State in Springfield this summer. This convention, held on the Illinois State Fair grounds, is assembled for the purpose of teaching political leadership and responsibility to students of high school age.
Keenly interested in athletics and physical fitness, Frank is a senior leader. He enjoys playing volleyball and watching football.
Despite his great appreciation for drama, Frank considers journalism the field on which he will concentrate in college. He plans to attend Drake university where he will major in journalism with the hope of becoming a commercial journalist in the field of advertising. He will study dramatics as a minor.
