West's varsity gridmen will try for their fourth conference victory of the season when they take on the Wheaton Tigers tonight. In the past two weeks they have spoiled Glenbrook's Homecoming and have made their own successful. In West's only game against the Tigers, the result was a 21‑21 tie.
In last Friday's Homecoming game with East Leyden, West's gridmen completely over powered their opponents by a score of 27‑0. The Warriors scored their touchdowns in the first, second, and fourth quarters, while Maine's sharp defense held East Leyden scoreless.
Esposito threw an eight‑yard pass to Waters for Maine's first touchdown, and ran five yards for their second. In the remaining seconds of the second quarter, East Leyden went all the way down to the one‑yard line on a pass, yet they were unable to score on the last play of the half, as both Maine's defense and the clock beat them.
After a scoreless third quarter, Pinzke climaxed a drive and went 15 yards for West's third touchdown. In the closing minutes, Lewis went six yards around end for the Warriors' fourth and last score. John Gabbert converted for his third extra point of the night.

Warriors Slip By Glenbrook
At Glenbrook, matched against an undefeated team which was celebrating Homecoming, Maine's varsity football team won their second conference game by a score of 21‑14. Victory was costly, however, as Al Klehr broke his arm.
After kicking off and holding the Spartans to a one yard gain, the Warriors took over on their own 32 yard line. After a five yard gain, Klehr connected to Waters for a 63 yard touchdown play.
Glenbrook could not be denied, though, as the Spartans scored on a run by Les Twist. Minutes later, due to an interception, Glenbrook took over on the Warrior's 19, and Twist and Wiese took turns carrying the ball until Wiese went over for the goal. The conversion was successful, and the Spartans led 14‑7 at the half.
After a scoreless third quarter, Curren started sweeping the ends for short gains, finally going three yards for the tying touchdown.
In the closing minutes the Warriors took over on their own 49‑yard line. Short gains brought the ball to the Spartan 31, where DeKreek completed a double reverse pass to Waters for the final touchdown. Gabbert connected for his third extra point of the night.
