Maine West students will have a chance to see one of their instructors refute the old adage that "them as can, do - them as can't, teach", when "The Country Girl" opens Friday, November 16, at Rand Park field house in Des Flames.
Des Plaines Theatre Guild, inc. is presenting this Clifford Odet's drama about an alcoholic actor and his wife in seven performances, with Garth Boyer, director of Maine West's speech and drama department, playing the featured role of Bernie Dodd, a director.
Opens November 16
Mr. Boyer will appear in "The Country Girl" November 16, 17, 23, 24, 25, 30 and December 1 at Rand Park. Curtain time is 8:30 p.m. for all performances except Sunday, November 25, when it is 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door but should be reserved in advance by calling Theatre Guild ticket chairman, Mrs. John B. Clark at 824‑8019.
Mr. Garth Boyer came to Maine West in 1961 after teaching 10 years at East High school in Sioux City, Iowa. While in Iowa

he directed shows for the Sioux City Community theatre, including arena productions; he also served on the Board of Directors for that group.
Past Roles Named
Mr. Boyer's role in "The Country Girl" marks his first appearance in a Des Plaines Theatre Guild production, but he has played numerous parts in college and community theatre plays in Indiana and Iowa.
