THE JV's FINISHED the year in great style by defeating Niles West 18‑0. This fourth victory for the J.V.'s ended the season for the squad and settled them in fourth place for the conference.
Mike Greene scored the three touchdowns for the Warriors. The first came late in the first half as Greene went over from the six‑inch line. In the second half Mike scored again on runs of five and four yards. The first score was the last play of an 80‑yard drive. The second score came after a recovery of a Niles fumble by Warrior lineman Frank Dennis.
The week before, the Warriors broke up another homecoming. The J.V. squad tallied 28 to Wheaton's 19 for their third victory of the season.
THE "FANTASTIC" Sophs did it again as they beat Glenbrook. They walked off the Glenbrook field as the victors and conference champs. Jerry Hanselmann led the attack with two touchdowns, and Tom Smith converted twice for the Warrior tallies.
On October 27 the Soph Warriors downed Niles West 26‑0. Jerry Hanselmann led the attack with three goals, Dave Gnoske scored once, while Tom Smith kicked two extra points.
When asked to comment about his team, Coach Atkinson said, "Best team I've had in years. Maine will have a very good football team in the next two years if the boys continue to improve."
TWELVE MEMBERS OF THE Maine West faculty bowled against the top 12 bowlers in the Boys' Bowling league on Tuesday, November 6. The faculty completely dominated the match by winning seven out of nine games. The top student bowler was Dan Bredar who bowled a 264 game and a 607 series.
