Opened Presents

By Connie Holmes '63

The opened presents lie about
The still and darkened room;
The love they've shown has filled our hearts
With no place left for gloom.
The red lights from the blackened hearth,
Which change in shape and form,
Are dying embers of the fire
That once burned bright and warm.
