Tankers Seek First Victory

With perhaps the three toughest meets of the season past, the Warrior tank squad will be seeking its first victory of the season when they host the Prospect Knights in the West pool tonight.

In their most recent meet, the tankmen visited Glenbrook and were downed 58‑37. This was the first conference meet of the season.

The Warriors were able to pick up three firsts in this meet. Jimo Kuhrt got a first in the 100‑yard breaststroke, and John Gunderson grabbed a first in the 100‑yard backstroke. The Warrior medley relay team also gained a first.

Second place honors were captured by Tom Gast, 100-yard butterfly; Jim Hyerdall, 100-yard free style; Tom Johns, 100-yard backstroke; Art Behn, 400-yard free style; and Per Lundgren, diving. Third

places were taken by Bill Schacht, 200. yard free style and 400-yard free style; Pat Gassner, 50-yard free style; Art Behn, 200-yard individual medley; and Jim Byrne, 100-yard butterfly.

In a home meet against Evanston, the perennial powerful Wildkits dunked our Warriors with a perfect meet. This means that the visitors finished first and second in every event. The final score was 86‑9.

In their first meet of the season the tankmen were downed, 61‑23, by a strong Oak Park team in a meet held at Oak Park.

The only event in which the Warriors took a first was in the 200‑yard free style relay. The relay team was made up of Tom Johns, John Gunderson, Bill Eley, and Jim Hyerdall. Second places in the meet went to Bill Schacht, Bill Eley, Art Behn, Jim Hyerdall, John Gunderson, Jimo Kuhrt, and Per Lundgren.
