The selection of the new Willie the Warrior for '62‑'63 was announced by Linda Drews '65, chairman of the Sportsmanship Citizenship committee; the new Willie is Bernie Braun '65.

Bernie was one of four contestants in the competition. The boys were judged on originality, spirit, and ability.

The judges of the contest were Mr. Sidney Drain, gymnastics coach; Mr. Glenn Hoffman, Student Council sponsor; Barb Georgans '63; Linda Drews '65; Sandy Kunkel '65; and Bob Young '63.

Willie will make appearances at basketball games and other school events, working with the Pom Pom squad and cheerleaders. He is sponsored by the Student Council and will wear an Indian costume which was appropriated by the Student Council and will be used in the future by the other Willies.
