Winner of the recent home economics department's Cherry Pie contest was Betty Riska '66. The first runner‑up was Carol Campobasso '65. The other two finalists were Sandra Linneweh '65, and Pam Newman '64.

The contest  was open to all home economic students. Four  finalists were chosen, and finally the difficult task of picking a winner was Elizabeth completed. The Riska judges who made this decision were Mr. John Clouser, director of student personnel; Mrs. Judith Hardy, home economics teacher; Mrs. Mary Kraska, home economics teacher; Mr. Vernon Moeller, counselor; Mr. Herman Rider, principal; Mrs. Gloria Saul, cafeteria manager; and Mrs. Lucille Stiles, home economics teacher.

On Saturday, January 19, a divisional bake‑off will be held at headquarters of the Penny Flame Gas company in Glenview. Maine's winner, Betty Riska, will compete against students from neighboring schools. The contestants will have two hours to prepare, bake and display pies.

"We feel that the contest is a good opportunity for home economics students to increase their skill, poise, and ability in giving demonstrations, all of which are considered in the judging," remarked Mrs. Stiles.
