Bank Windows Display
Department Projects
Examples of work being done by students in Maine West's industrial arts department are currently on display in the front window of the Des Plaines National bank, Lee and Ellinwood Streets.
Articles selected from the woodworking, machine, metal, and electrical shops have been arranged in the bank window with identifying labels made in Maine West's print shop.
Included in the bank window exhibit is a power supply, built by Ted Strand '64, in Electricity III, which recently won first place in the state Industrial Arts contest, according to Mr. Robert Cochrane, head of Maine West's industrial arts department, who helped arrange for this display.
Tools made in Maine West's machine shop which are on display include a tap wrench by Bob Pettigrew '63, in Machine II; a C-clamp by Len Munson '65, in Machine I; a scriber by Larry Landahl '64, in Machine I; a gear by Brad Miller '63, in Machine III; and a screw driver by Gerald Kugler '63, in Machine shop I.
Items from Metal shop I displayed are a model of a coffee table, the work of Gary Fisher '64, and Mike Kunn '63; a tack hammer made by Bob Mandel '64; and a trowel made by Jack Bittel '65.
Student in Woods I and II contributing items for the display are Rick Bayster '64, a laminated bowl; Wayne Fuhlbrugge '64, a meat carving tray; Royce Leonardson '66, a step ladder; and Dan Makos '65, a leaf tray and two candy servers.
