At the hands of top notch competition, Maine West's tank‑ I men have chalked up three wins while losing only once during the last few weeks of competition. The mermen take on Forest View tonight in West's pool at 7:30 p.m.
In a recent meet, the tankmen sunk East Leyden 52‑43. First place honors were captured by Jim Byrne, 200‑yard individual medley; Jimo Kuhrt, 100‑yard breaststroke; Tom Gast, 100‑yard butterfly; and Bill Schacht, 400‑yard free style. The Warrior medley relay team also gained a first.
Second place honors went to Art Behn, 200-yard free style; Bill Eley, 50-yard free style; Pat Gassner, 100-yard free style; Tom Johns, 100-yard backstroke; and Tom Kelley, 200-yard individual medley.

New Records Set
Against Niles West the Warriors took six out of eleven firsts, set two new school records, and tied another. John Gunderson set a new school record of 1:03.3 for the 100-yard backstroke, and Jimo Kuhrt set a new record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.6. Pat Gassner tied the school record for the 100 yard free style with a time of 0:55.9 seconds. The final score was 57-38 with the Warriors coming out on top.
In a home meet against Proviso West our Warriors were dunked. The only two events in which the Warriors took firsts were in the 200‑yard free style relay, and the 200-yard free style relay. Second places in the meet went to Art Behn in the 400‑yard free style; John Gunderson, 100-yard backstroke; and Jimo Kuhrt in the 100‑yard breaststroke.
Against the Prospect Knights the Warriors were able to gather seven first place honors. First place awards went to Art Behn in the 200‑yard individual medley and the 400‑yard free style; Tom Johns, 100-yard breaststroke; Jimo Kuhrt, 100‑yard breaststroke; and Bill Schacht, 100 and 200‑yard free style. The 200‑yard medley relay team also gained a first. The Warriors won the meet 65‑30.
