Riders Get Special Rate

Pegasus club is the horseback‑riding club of Maine West. The club has several functions for students interested in riding. Members of the club enjoy special rates when they go riding on Mondays after school. Riders get a one‑hour lesson plus transportation to a n d from the stables for $2.50 a week at the Idle Hour stables. Other club activities include the annual horse show in which both students and teachers appear. The club attended the International Livestock and Horse show this year.
Mrs. Jeanine Jekel, club sponsor, advocated, "Riding is a good sport that is open to all persons. Anyone from seven to seventy can ride and learn to ride well. Riding develops strict self‑discipline because you are in contact with another living thing. Coordination is developed through riding.

"The riders in this area are very lucky; there are many helpful things in the Cook county area. The area has the highest concentration of horses in the country," explained Mrs. Jekel.

The club's officers are Judy Bogacz '63, president; Carol Ann Barrett '63, and Linda Gyssler '64.

The club has two events coming up along with riding each Monday. On February 13, the club will sponsor a bake sale; the annual horse show will be held on April 27.
