For Sophs and Juniors Career Day,
March 6

Gaining a better understanding of certain vocations is the objective of Career day, Wednesday, March 6. It will last through the first and second periods, and only sophomores and juniors will be involved. The freshmen will have an assembly during this time to discuss their future education according to their vocational plans.

The students will be given a list of approximately 45 vocations, from which they will choose the two that most interest them most. They will be scheduled to go to certain rooms according to their chosen speakers describe the vocations fields where they will hear speakers describe the vocations of their choice.

30 Minute Discussions

The speakers will discuss such items as the nature of the work, the personal qualities necessary for success, the necessary education, the returns, and the opportunities for placement. These speeches will last 25 to 30 minutes; the rest of the period will be spent in discussion.

Some of the vocations to be represented are accounting, advertising, commercial art, dentistry, medicine, electronics, nursing, and teaching.

This is one effort of Maine West to help students prepare themselves for life after graduation.
