Warriors' Drum Beats

Question: What effect, if any, do you think the increased student enrollment and change to a nine‑period day will have on Maine West?

Lynn Johnson '65- "I think there will be more school spirit because underclassmen usually have more spirit. As far as the longer day is concerned, I don't think it will affect the school."

John Heckel '64 - "A class as big as the incoming Freshmen class is bound to stimulate competition between all the classes. Also, since there will be nine periods a day, I feel everyone should be allowed to take five solids."

Lois Wright '63 ‑ "It is a pathetic shame that the taxpayers didn't have enough intelligence to see that we need a new school to handle the needs of our growing school district."

Alice Long '63 ‑ "Des Plaines and Park Ridge residents will have to adjust some of their attitudes toward each other and their school system. More study halls will be wasted; however, many real students will benefit from extra study time during the day."
