"My most exciting swimming meet was the one against Glenbrook when I swam my best time in the relay, but we still lost the event," relates Pat Gassner '63.
In his freshman year he earned his numerals, and in his sophomore year he earned his varsity letter. This season Pat will be trying for his third letter in swimming.
Thus far, Pat holds the school record in the 50‑yard freestyle with a time of 24.6 seconds and in the 100‑yard freestyle with a time of 55.0 seconds. Pat commented that the team members are a close‑knit group with everyone striving to improve his swimming. Pat declared that hard work and lots of sleep make a good swimmer.
Pat's favorite foods are porterhouse steaks, pizza, and coke. Other than swimming he is interested in playing baseball and cards. His pet peeves are '55 Chevy sixes that won't move and girls who walk down the halls and will not move (devoted Mainiter).
After he graduates Pat plans to go to Northern Illinois university and major in chemistry.
