Music, Art, and Drama On
Exhibition Tonite

The music, art, and drama departments of Maine West will present a Fine Arts festival tonight at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission will be by Music Boosters card, activity ticket, or 75 cents for student and $1 for adults. This is the first time that the music, art, and dramatic talent of the high school will all be displayed together for the benefit of the public. United in their efforts to make this event a great success are Mr. Robert Kuite, chairman of the music department; Mr. Wilbur Schafer, vocal director; Mrs. Mildred Heidorn, orchestra director; Mr. Garth Boyer, drama coach; Mr. George Blanas, chairman of the art department; and Mr. Jared Spears, harmony director.

Opening the program will be the Girl's Glee club, singing such selections as "Here is Thy Footstool," "Ah, Love, But a Day," and "I Dream of You," with soloists Beth Holmgren '65, and Debbie Quinn '65, accompanied by Sue Bornhoeft '63.

West's string orchestra will play "Varicolor Variations" and "Concerto for Four Solo Violins," with soloists Roberta Wells '65, Christine Haarvig '66, Connie Holms '63, and Paulette Straub '63.

A satirical, one‑act comedy, The Flattering Word, will be presented by West's dramatics class. The cast will include Gary Riess '63, Jean Mitran '63, Linda Perrin '63, Richard Giles '63, and Carol Engstrom 63. Peg Johnson '64 is the student director.

The art department offers its exciting and colorful "Boulevard des Arts" where art displays and demonstrations of paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, and printmaking can be viewed.

Background music for the festival will be supplied by the clarinet choir, brass ensemble, percussion ensemble, strolling strings, and woodwind quintet. Concluding the program are the Choraliers singing "My Bonnie Lass She Smileth," "O Mistress Mine," and "O Mary, Don't You Weep."
