Faculty Grows in Size;
30 New Teachers Join
This year Maine West has the largest faculty in the history of the school with an addition of more than 30 teachers. A few changes and additions have been made in the counselors and deans because of the large enrollment and a leave of absence.
Miss Roberta Iliff remains dean of girls, and Mr. A.K.H. Cochrane is dean of students for the 1st semester, while Mr. John Clouser is attending school. Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, chairman of counselors, takes the duties as career counselor for the 1st semester.
The counselors in the personnel department this year are as follows: Mr. Albert Lemons, counselor of senior boys; Mr. Vernon Moeller, junior boys; Mr. Paul McKinnis, sophomore boys; and Mr. Fred Beuttler and Mr. Fred Bencriscutto, freshman boys. Also, Mrs. Mildred Cress, counselor of junior and senior girls; Miss Barbara Hulse, sophomore girls; and Mrs. Marian Pederson and Mrs. Helen Stuart, freshman girls.
The social science teachers this year are Mr. George Bakalis, Mr. Thomas Beggs, Mr. Donald Layton, Mr. Timothy Little, Miss Faith Paul, and Mr. Gerhard Rempel.
The English teachers are Miss Barbara Bolman, Mrs. Judith Bolvinette, Miss Patricia Conway, Mr. John Cooper, Miss Linda Jenewein, Mrs. Nancy Kohls, Mr. Richard Machalski, Miss Ruth Nickelson, and Miss Suzanne Stearns.
The home economics teachers are Miss Norma Benner, Mrs. Joan Tempero, and Mrs. Ruth Volz. Also, the new mathematics teachers are Miss Diane Schlieckert, Mr. Robert Carlton, and Mr. Dean Hinshaw.
In addition the new science teachers are Mr. Eldon Burk, and Mr. Rollin Porter. The physical education teachers are Miss Mae Jean Engen, Mr. Louis Gartner, Mr. Roger King, and Miss Marlene Paset.
The industrial arts teachers are Mr. Robert Freeman and Mr. Richard Nowak, and the language teachers are Miss Lois Guertin and Mr. Donald Anderson. Mr. Albert Lemons is a new counselor, Mr. Merlin Schultz is coordinator of guidance service, and Mrs. Olga Stetsuk is assistant librarian.
