VOL. V, NO. 1
Because of the resignation of Keith Johnson, the Student Council elected Jim Carley as the new vice‑president on September 16.
A new plan concerning the traffic court and its functions and the acceptance of the second half of the American Field Services program of foreign exchange students were the main business for the first meeting September 6.
At the second meeting of the Council on September 13, a special committee was set up under the chairmanship of Jim after the suggestion of president Barry Eisfeldt to check the possibility of a "Project Hope" to help support the USS Hope.
The Student Council recently voted to participate in the Americans Abroad exchange program which brought Ursula Krome from Germany this year. "It will be possible," announced Mr. Glen Hoffmann, faculty sponsor, "to send from one to four Maine West students overseas in the summer of 1964 or for the full 1964-65 school year. While only juniors are eligible to apply for the summer program, seniors may apply for the full year." Deadline for these applications to be turned in was today.
