Frosh Class Sets Record
With 3,278 students Maine West's enrollment reached an all‑time high in its five years of existence. Because of the increased enrollment, Maine West has added an extra period to accommodate the larger student body. The cafeteria and auditorium are being used to provide necessary study hall space.

Careful scheduling was necessary to provide the laboratory periods necessary to enable students to enroll in the courses offered by the Art, Home Economics, Industrial Education, and Science departments.

This Freshman Class being the largest in Maine West's history has a total of 1,215 students, 609 boys and 606 girls.
The Junior Class is next with a total of 800 students, 440 boys and 360 girls. The sophomores follow with 653 students, 349 boys and 304 girls. Last but not least is the Senior Class with 610 students. They have 337 boys and 273 girls.

Mr. Rider, principal of Maine West, when asked about the opening of school made these comments: "The 3,278 students entering Maine West on opening day found classes were much larger than last year and that some of the cafeteria and auditorium study halls had over 400 students''

The bonds of welcome are extended to the freshmen and to all new students.
