VOL. V, NO. 10
No matter how much people complain about our "littered" halls, classrooms, and cafeteria, more credit should be given to the custodial staff at Maine West. These janitors have taken as much pride, if not more, in the appearance of Maine West as its own students. Certainly they are paid for this service and it is their job, but students fail to recognize what the janitors are trying to do and they take them for granted.
One duty of a janitor is to see that requested materials, equipment, etc., are delivered to the proper place at the proper time. Besides this, they do numerous "odd jobs" around the school, such as carpentry, gardening and even "housecleaning."
Much time and hard work are involved in doing these "odd jobs" for Maine West students. Also, students must not forget that after any school event the janitors are left to clean up the mess.
Why not show that Maine West appreciates it fine custodial staff? By cooperating with them in keeping the school free of litter, by thanking them more often, and by taking more pride in your school, these janitors can be given the credit they deserve.
