The Maine West Freshmen: swimmers won the Glenbrook North Freshmen invitational, and Coach Kearns thinks that this team will show great promise next season.
"The people to watch next," predicts Mr. Baer, "will be, for one, Reed Erven, who holds the school record in the individual medley and is only a sophomore. Tom Gast, a junior, will be going places in the 100‑yard butterfly next season. Other returning juniors to watch will be Craig Erven, who was ill this season, Ricky Fulle, Dick Heller, Rich Hoffmeyer, Bruce Jacobsen, Tom Junius and Dave Ladendorf.
"Jimo Kuhrt, one of the team's outstanding swimmers, has left a school record in the 100‑yard breastroke, 1:06.5, that will stand at Maine West for many years."
