THE MAINE POINT
By John Gauger

Campaigns can be vicious, corruptive, or fun. Thanks to the attitudes of the candidates and the student body in general, this election was fun. A positive spirit ran high. Most students were for a candidate rather than against one. It was most probable that the students followed that age‑old adage pertaining to mudslinging in politics, "He who flings mud loses ground."

Your friend and mine, Officer Deards, the policeman that is on duty at Maine West, had the unfortunate experience of having a couple of passengers croak while riding in his car on the way to Maine West. Craig Ehlen has proposed a system for keeping the cafeteria clean and safe for democracy or at least the students. Craig's table has challenged all other tables to an eating contest. Here's the rub: all persons at Craig's table have asked their mommies to give them twice as much food during the contest. Now when Craig's team has all these extra resources, the opposing table will have to scrounge on the floor for food, thus keeping the cafeteria clean.
