VOL. V, NO. 11
Don, Pat Are Maine West Folk Stylists
Do you like folk singers and folk music? If so, pull up a chair, relax, and listen to the music of seniors Don Deese and Pat Martin, who have been singing folk music together for about one year.
Don plays the guitar, and Pat plays the string bass. "I've been playing the string bass for about seven years," remarked Pat, who is a member of the Concert Orchestra. Don has been playing the guitar for a little over a year, but he is also in Concert Band and plays the trumpet.
"A mistake‑just a big mistake!" This is how Pat says, she and Don started playing together. It seems that they decided to get a singing trio together with one guitar, one string bass, and one banjo. When they called a rehearsal the banjo never showed up, and ever since then the trio has been a duet.
Don and Pat have thus far performed mostly for school activities, such as V‑Show, PTC parties, and the Music Boosters Pow Wow. They also enjoy performing at private engagements.
