The Strom Family Chosen
To Host Our AFS Student
Good Friday was really a good Friday for the Leslie Strom family of 1075 Woodlawn! On March 27th Mr. Morton Collins, president of the Des Plaines Chapter of AFS, informed the Stroms that they had been chosen to be hosts to the 1964-65 foreign exchange student.

According to Mr. Collins, it is impossible to tell who the student will be. The final decision will probably come in June. At the moment, the New York branch if the AFS is processing the names of students who applied with the families who will be hosts. It is of the utmost importance that the family and the student be well suited to each other. However, it is known that the student will be a girl, approximately 16 years old.
How do the Stroms feel? Positively elated! At this time only one of the Strom children, Janice '65, is attending Maine West.

Jan's older sister, Karen '63, is now majoring in sociology at Kalamazoo. Karen played a major part in starting the Foreign Exchange Program here last year. Clifford and Clayton, Jan's twin brothers, attend Algonquin Junior High School. It was on their 13th birthday that they received the news of their acceptance as host family.

The responsibility for the exchange student lies in the hands of the host family, the Des Plaines Chapter of the AFS, and the Maine West Student Council.
