Warrior Of The West
Six feet tall, brown hair, and blue‑eyed‑that's none other than Les Jannusch, this week's Warrior of the West. Les was chosen for the all‑conference football team last year. His most outstanding game was against Deerfield. In his four years of football he has lettered twice.
Les has also played basketball and was a pitcher on the State Championship Maine West baseball team last year. He is returning this year as a first string pitcher.
In the future, Les hopes to attend Northern Illinois University, and he wants to major in math and continue in sports.

When asked if anything could be done to improve school spirit, he replied, "Yes, I think there could be more attendance at the pep assemblies to get more spirit."
Similarly, when asked what was the outstanding thing about Maine, Les said, "I like the way teachers take an interest in you and treat you more as an equal and not as though they're just filling in time."
Les' pet peeve is girls who wear too much make‑up. His favorite foods are barbequed spare ribs and baked potatoes. One of his hobbies is going with a certain brown‑haired senior girl.
