Amling Is 9th School's 11th,
In Math Meet
Maine West's brains placed 11th in the Illinois State Mathematics Contest recently given for all high schools in Illinois. Michael Amling '65, scored 86.75 placing 9th among over 1,000 state competitors.

Mike, teaming up with Ron Pazdra '65, and Jeff Clement '64, represented Maine West as a team. Last year's team outside this year's when they finished 10th and Mike was 5th in the state.

Students making a score of 80 or over out of the possible 150 points are placed on the Illinois Honor Roll. Mike has been on this Honor Roll for the past two years.
The top high schools are Lane Technical, Freeburg Community, Highland Park, Lake Forest Academy, Oak Park‑River Forest, Evanston, Downers Grove, University High School, Niles West, New Trier, and Maine West.

High scorer with 131.25 was Richard Schoeppel from Lane Tech in Chicago.

The Mathematics Contest is sponsored by the Mathematics Association of America along with the State Acturarial Society.
