Mechanics Test Ability
Three of Maine West's auto mechanics class students will be at Thornridge High School on May 16th competing against 20 other schools' contestants to try to win the Plymouth Trouble-Shooting Contest. Representing Maine West will be Dale Funk '64, Terry Madoch '64, and Ken Seagren '66. One boy is to be an alternate‑only two boys will work on the car.

"The purpose of the contest is to provide a practical 'final examination' for auto mechanic students of high schools, vocational schools, and junior colleges," said Mr. Robert Freeman, shop instructor.
"There is a growing demand for new people in the mechanical and service departments. This contest helps students prepare for jobs in these fields."

Representatives drive their own or furnished cars to participate in the contest. Maine West's car will be furnished by Northwest Plymouth. At the contest a group of judges create 15 mechanical difficulties. The car is then returned to the contestants to put back into running order. The 1st team to finish wins.
