Year‑end Club Banquets Being Planned
Music Dept. Awards

The yearly Music Awards Banquet will be held on May 21st. This banquet is sponsored by the Music Boosters, Tri‑M Club, and Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines.

Awards will be given for four year membership in the Music Department and also for all new and old members of Tri‑M.

The students receiving awards for Tri-M were listed in the last issue of The Westerner. Students winning awards for four year membership from the Orchestra are Larry Carle, Bob Gundelach, Janet Healey, Randi Johnson, Harold Landen, Larry Pintuck, Bob Tatge, Mannela Jones, Rob Larson, Tom LeFavour, and Nancy Wille.

From the choruses are Arlene Archambault, Joyce Ermeling, Tom Jacobs, Nancy Jensen, Karen Larsen, Arline Boyer, Donna Wolf, Karen Rivard, Nancy Bowen, and Pat Martin.

And from the Band are George Anderson, Bob Biggs, Don Deese, Herb Hardt, Tom Means, Dick Oas, Ken Romin, Jan Rousey, Carolyn Sangster, Scott Weidner, Chuck Wente, Tom Balma, Mary Ann Gembicki, Dan Grundler, John Gunderson, Rick Honn, Wayne Markworth, Rog Pease, Bob Schapper, and Jill Williams.

Business Club Banquet

The annual Business Club banquet will be held May 27th in the cafeteria at 6:30 p.m.

Both the Boys' and the Girls' Business Clubs will participate. They may bring their parents or a guest. The prices are $5 for three persons or $2 for one person.

A delicious roast beef dinner, corsages for the moms, a speaker from the business world, entertainment, and beautiful centerpieces of carnations and apple blossoms will highlight the evening.

The work, headed by Diane Haas '64, general chairman, was done by Paul Idec '64, invitations; Audrey Michele '65, program; Ruth Salzman '64, food; and Pat Calabrese '65, decorations.

"I believe that this year's banquet will be a big success," prophesied Diane Haas, "and that everyone will have a wonderful time."

Industrial Projects Awards

Four firsts were brought back from District competition when MW students entered projects in the Northern Illinois Indus trial Education Exhibits at DeKalb, May 1st and 2nd. The winners next will take their entries to Carbondale for State competition.

Dale Funk '64, was a first-place winner with a sofa set. Brent Menger '66, with a telephone switch board; James Meyer '66, with a door knocker; and Ray Pifke '64, with a table were the other top award recipients.

Second places were given to Dennis Carnell '64, Douglas Newman '66, Jim Pappas '66, Ken Romin '64, and Bud Ziehn '64.

Two third places went to Jens Brash '64, and Richard Walker '65.

Other awards listed in the name of the group leader of the project were presented to Paul Hollerbach '64, third place; and Jim Vrastiak '65, first place.
