Four West Coaches Join South in Fall
Helping to start Maine South off in the sports field next year are four outstanding coahces from Maine West. The coaches are Mr. Louis Gartner, Mr. Marv Nyren, Mr. Robert Schmidt, and Mr. Edwin Smith.

Mr. Nyren will be the head varsity football coach, while Mr. Smith will coach the varsity tracksters. Leading the other varsity teams will be Mr. Bernie Brady, basketball; Mr. Thomas Ziemek, wrestling; Mr. John Tilley, swimming; Mr. Glen Van Proyer, baseball; and Mr. Kada, gymnastics. Coaches in the other sports haven't been chosen to date.
Maine South will play in the Des Plaines Valley Conference. It will compete in all varsity sports starting next school year.

South's home football games will be played under the lights at Maine East. Basketball games will be played in its own spectator gym.

"As for Maine West, the school split will not affect any of our own varsity teams," remarked Mr. Kenneth Olson, athletic director.
