Institute Day a Holiday
For the Students Only
A holiday for students of Maine East and West High Schools will be Monday, Oct. 14, when the teachers and administrators meet for their annual Institute Day.
To start off the day, the faculty of both schools will meet in the Maine East auditorium. Mr. Milo Johnson, principal of Maine East, will give the welcoming speech. Following Mr. Johnson, Mr. Victor Schmidt, assistant superintendent of Cook County Schools, will give a short greeting from the County office. Then Dr. Frank Endicott from Northwestern University will talk on "Why Do We Have High School Homerooms?" The last speaker on the morning program, Dr. Wesley Schmidt, from Northern Illinois University, will speak on "Teachers Can Use Test Scores."
A luncheon will be served for the group at Maine East.
During the afternoon, the teachers will meet at their own schools. The program at Maine West will be in four main parts. First, Mr. Fred Bencriscutto will present the transition from eighth grade into high school. Following him will be chairmen of the different departments giving presentations of the courses offered in each. Miss Barbara Hulse will talk on the transitions through high school. The last speaker on the program will be Mr. Wayne Rosenquist, who will speak on the new registration procedures.
