AGAINST WEST LEYDEN the combined Maine grid teams racked up 107 points to none for Leyden.

DURING THE last two weeks the JV football team defeated West Leyden 6-0, and Niles West 20-14. This gives them a record of three wins, no losses. Jim Dimatteo scored the only TD against West Leyden. Ed Reidel intercepted the winning pass. Fine running and passing by Paul Lampru helped drop Niles. Highlight of the game was a 30-yard pass from Lampru to Brown for the TD. Dimatteo and Lampru scored the other touchdowns with Azon kicking the extra points. Tonight the JV's will host Glenbrook North as the opener for the varsity game. On October 12 the team travels to Mt. Prospect to participate in their Homecoming games.

WEST'S SOPHOMORE cross country team scored its second straight shut out of the season, when they beat Niles West on Thursday, September 26. Phil Martin led the way with an impressive 8:22. Following were Ray Todd, 2nd, 8:37; John Yager, 3rd. 8:52; Kevin Flurkey, 4th, 8:53; and Roy Tipton, 5th, 8:59.

THE FROSH GIDDERS beat West Leyden 20-0, Saturday, September 21, in a thrilling home game. Touchdowns were made by Pump, Lossman, and Mandelky. This was their first conference game. But 27 points wasn't good enough to win the away game played last Saturday at Niles West. The frosh were nosed out, 32-27, in a tough game. Touchdowns were by DeGraff, Lossman (2), and Mandelky. The next game is at Glenbrook North tomorrow.
COACH KENNETH OLSON will give a talk on Isometric Conditioning at the South Western Suburban Institute, Oct. 14, at Rich Township High School, Park Forest. Isometric conditioning is a concept of exercise without motion. Coach Olson has done some research on the subject and written a paper. Professional baseball and football teams have found this kind of exercise valuable as a supplement to other forms of exercising.

THE SOPHOMORE FOOTBALL team proves that 13 is a lucky number. They defeated West Leyden, September 21, 13-0, and Niles West last Saturday by the same score. Steve Ryden paced the Warriors with two touchdowns and an extra point in each game.
