Pep assemblies, pom‑poms, shakers, pins, buses, sweatshirts, tags, and posters are only a few of the many things Pep Club is concerned with. Under the direction of Miss June Thompson, Pep Club kicks off the football season by sponsoring the annual "Kick‑off Dance."

This year's officers are Mary Jefferson '65, president, Joyce Humay '65, vice‑president, Kathy Flentge '65, secretary-treasurer, Jerri Walsh '65, publicity chairman, Clare Weretka '65, social chairman, and Marianne Bretsnyder '66, sportsmanship. Members of Pep Club are planning to sponsor buses to all away football and basketball games. They also hope to have at least one "after dance" during the basketball season.

Pep and sportsmanship are key objectives of Pep Club. Posters "grinding," "pulverising," and "devouring" opponent schools can be seen in the cafeteria and tags worn by students before all games are the work of pep clubbers.

Anyone and everyone can be  a member of Pep Club. The membership fees are $2.50. Members may ride Pep Club sponsored buses for only 25 cents, while others must pay, the full 75 cents.

"With the support of the entire student body, I am sure that this will be Pep Club's best year," remarked Miss Thompson.

GAA Tennis

Winning is the word for the GAA tennis team sponsored by Miss June Thompson, girls' physical education instructor. With victories over Niles East, 3-1, and Glenbrook North, 3-2, the -Maine West netsters went on to smash East Leyden, 7-1, Thursday, October 10, on the local courts.

All classes are represented as members of the team. Unfortunately captain Jean Mead '64, has been side‑lined for the season with an injured knee.
